Conclusion drawn from the in depth interviews

From our research documents our group had to individually pick 2 different people to interview in depth with 2 different questions for each interview. All members in our group successfully got enough information from their interviews for me to draw conclusions from them.

Firstly, Julio first interview came back with some interesting results. The person he interviewed answered that their favourite music genre is rap. The person who answered gave good reasons why they enjoyed rap music the best. They enjoyed rap music as they answered that the changing moods and ambitions through different songs made rap songs catchy and easy to pick up the lyrics. Their favourite music video was also a rap video made by Eminem. The song made by Eminem that was their favourite was Loose Yourself. From the second interview Julio questioned someone on didn’t have a favourite genre as the person liked a bit of everything but did prefer hip-hop more than other genres. The reason this person gave for preferring hip-hop was that it can be relaxing and you can relate to people about the song and the lyrics.

In conclusion to Julio’s in depth questionnaire results it is evident that Dubstep is not recognised in both interviews as a recognised music genre. This evident in the second interview as the respondent answers that “I’m only just getting into it now”. This suggests that in this case the Dubstep is a new type of music genre. However, in both interviews both people like the fact that the music they prefer is catchy and something they can relate to with friends.

From the remaining in depth interviews every respondent is very familiar with the music genre Dubstep and know a lot about Dubstep and are quite analytical with what they like about it. For example, in Rahul’s in depth interview the respondent in interview 1 likes “the anticipation of the drop”. Hip-hop is also recognised as a favourite music genre in more than 1 case in all of our 4 in depth interviews. This could suggest that Hip-hop in young people aged 16-24 like Hip-hop the most as there favourite music genre. The conclusions that I can also draw is that in our case people have answered that they like the drum and bass side to the music genre Dubstep. Dubstep music can be generalised from our results from our in depth questionnaires as it is referred to being similar to other genres such as Drum and Bass, Electronic and Dance. This is actually quite true as Dubstep is a mixture of these types of music genres.

In conclusion to all the in depth interviews our group did. It is evident that Dubstep music is generally recognised and is well like from our results. However, it also has to be said that Dubstep is regarded as similar to other music genres earlier mentioned above e.g. electronic.
